Music is....
The song of the soul. Music relates to everybody in some way, whether it be listening to music on your way to work, singing about what you are doing that day, or jamming out on your ukelele. Everyone can relate to music. With musical expression on the rise, it is necessary to provide adaptations and accommodations to musical pieces such as instruments, sheet music, accessibility, and output. Everybody should be able to participate in music in some way. This website has been designed in order to share developments in music adaptations as well as give a brighter understanding as to why music is so important in the lives of students with special needs. Music provides opportunities for everybody, and it is important we continue to recognize that.
Our students need us.
It's not just students with special needs. All students can benefit from participation in music. However, it has come to my attention that students with special needs (being the students who could benefit greatly) may not be offered music services in or out of schools. This is unacceptable. Music can be a cheap, easy way to keep students engaged and expressing themselves. If you don't believe me, continue to look through this website and then make up your mind.
